Please come out and see for yourself the remarkable transformation of Mr. Campbells portable sawmill site at the entrance of the Learning Centre. I am very excited, our first major restoration initiative at the centre. It's been a collaborative effort with the local school and UVIC students. I would love for all of you to participate and get your hands dirty in this inaugural project.
The Galiano Conservancy still needs more housing for Volunteer Student Interns. The next one to arrive is Markus from Germany on May 31. We find them free housing in exchange for all the hard work that they do and they provide and prepare their own food.

Due to popular demand, Rest.Q Animal Sanctuary Society is hosting the first summer Bingo gaming night for adults (to augment our annual Fall Bingo gaming night)
Come for a night of relaxed, fun gaming with cash prizes.
Proceeds go to the care of local animals through the Rest.Q organization. Rest.Q provides care and advice for homeless, injured and sick animals on Galiano and Mayne Islands.

Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain Expansion Proposal would quadruple the number of tankers transporting diluted bitumen (tar sands oil) through the Gulf Islands and the Salish Sea. This community event provides an opportunity to discuss the risk to our local environment and wildlife, and will explain how you can voice your concerns.
