Broom Removal Event for the Mayne Island Conservancy

The next scheduled broom pull is in January 2014. We'll meet in the parking area below the trail access on Henderson Hill (the end of Beechwood Drive) at 2:00 pm and finish at 4:00 pm on Frday the 10th. As usual tools will be provided but bring gloves and dress for the day; sturdy footwear is important. This is a great opportunity to meet new people while getting some fresh air!

Chasing Ice

A documentary by acclaimed National Geographic photographer James Balog. (75 minutes) Balog was once a skeptic about climate change. But through his Extreme Ice Survey, he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In Chasing Ice, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers.

The Mayne Island Conservancy Society shows important documentaries on conservation themes at its Mary Jeffery Resource Room, 478 Village Bay Road.

Mayne Island Conservancy's Salon Movies

The Mayne Island Conservancy announces special Thursday night movie presentations in the Mary Jeffery Resource Room upstairs at 478 Village Bay Road.

On November 14th at 7:30 come to an evening of short documentaries including Doug Urquhart & Paul Zizka's "Mountains in Motion"

Galiano Mushroom Festival

The 13th annual Galiano Mushroom Festival sponsored by the Galiano Naturalists is at the South Galiano Hall on Saturday, November 2nd from 11 am - 3 pm. Everyone welcome.

A large variety of local mushrooms and other fungi will be on display. Bring your own mushrooms and get them identified.

Other naturalist and trails information will be available, along with a display of mushroom books for sale.

A delicious mushroom-themed lunch will be available for purchase. Come early and don't miss out!
